Stuckeman School to host acclaimed architect Brad Cloepfil on March 28 (rescheduled)
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Stuckeman School is proud to host Brad Cloepfil – architect, educator and founding principal of Allied Works Architecture – as part of its Lecture and Exhibition Series at 6 p.m. on March 28 in the Stuckeman Family Building Jury Space. His talk was originally scheduled for Feb. 20 but was postponed due to the campus closure (due to snow).
Founded by Cloepfil in 1994 in Portland, Oregon, Allied Works is recognized for designing civic and educational institutions, arts organizations and museums. Some of its most notable works include: Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis; the Museum of Arts and Design in New York; the Seattle Art Museum; the Clyfford Still Museum in Denver; and the National Music Centre of Canada in Calgary, Alberta.
Allied Works, which opened a second office in New York City in 2013, has also designed and completed private residences, offices and creative workspaces, including Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, California.
Cloepfil has been recognized for his work on creative and cultural projects and for crafting powerful spaces for art and interaction with awards from the American Institute of Architects, World Architecture News, Architect, Travel and Leisure and Business Week/Architectural Record.
A native of Portland, Oregon, Cloepfil earned his B.Arch. from the University of Oregon. After working in offices in Los Angeles and Switzerland, he moved to New York and received his M.S. in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University in 1985.
He began his career as a teacher and practitioner in New York, California and Oregon, and has held guest professorships at Columbia University, University of California, Berkeley, Rice University, Cornell University, Syracuse University and the University of Oregon.
