Biography

Chaz Wolcott is a theatremaker who comes to Penn State from New York City. His director/choreographer credits include Broadway: Red Bucket Follies (New Amsterdam Theatre), Gypsy of the Year, and Broadway Backwards (Al Hirschfeld Theatre); Regional: Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Crazy for You, Cats (3x), Newsies (8x), Me and My Girl, Bright Star, Jersey Boys, Cabaret, La Cage aux Folles, Kiss Me Kate, Altar Boyz and Mamma Mia (2x). Chaz has created & directed numerous benefit concerts for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS from coast to coast, and virtually. As a performer, Chaz is perhaps best known for his work in Disney’s Newsies: The Broadway Musical, now available on Disney+. He’s also been seen on the National Tour of Cats (Mr. Mistoffelees), the First National Tour of Disney’s Newsies (Buttons), and in Me and My Girl for NY City Center Encores! Chaz has been a featured contestant on FOX’s hit show So You Think You Can Dance. Chaz has served on the faculty at Broadway Dance Center and Steps On Broadway in NYC, and as choreographer for the Steps Conservatory and for BDC's Professional Semester Program. Chaz also served as the VP of OCUNYC, an alumni program where he created and designed curriculums for workshops and intensives for students from his alma mater. Chaz earned his BFA in Dance from Oklahoma City University and is nearly finished with his MFA in Theatre from the University of Idaho, where he also will earn a Certificate in Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and Universal Design for Learning. He is trained in Theatrical Intimacy, Mental Health First Aid, Trauma-Informed Practices, and is a consent-based space advocate and dog dad. More about Chaz can be found at www.chazwolcott.com
