Violin Studies
From talented music minors to graduate performance majors, advanced violinists with a strong desire to gain experience and increase their skill level will find a nurturing musical home in the violin studio. Led by Professors James Lyon and Max Zorin, students have plentiful performance opportunities as both soloists and ensemble players through studio classes, weekly common hour performances, and more formal recitals. Resident instruction is regularly enhanced through masterclasses led by visiting artists such as Phil Setzer (Emerson Quartet), Johnny Gandelsman (Brooklyn Rider), Akemi Takayama (Shenandoah Conservatory), and Mauro Spinnazè (Venice Music Project).
Penn State is an exciting place to grow as a violinist! We invite you to visit the School of Music and learn more about the opportunities for musical growth. A free, introductory lesson is available to all interested prospective students. We look forward to meeting you.
